Literacy Programs:

Young Author’s Fair

Program Specifics:

  • Target population: Youth ages 0-18 (Preschool through High School)
  • Days of operation: One time per year for one week; each session lasts 40 minutes
  • Hours of operation: Various times during the week with the finale on a Saturday morning from 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM at Standard School
  • Target Communities: School sites throughout Kern County

How Results are Measured:

  • Number of students participating
  • Number of students viewing an author
  • Number of student-made works

Estimated numbers served:

  • 18,000+ per year

Summer Book Blast

Program Specifics:

  • Target population: Youth ages 0-18 (Preschool through High School)
  • Days of operation: Annually during the summer
  • Hours of operation: Finale held at the Kern County Museum
  • Target Communities: Students throughout Kern County

How Results are Measured:

  • Number of attendees at finale
  • Number of reading logs turned in

Estimated numbers served:

  • 7,000 children per year
